Step 1

You meet personally with Dr. Amiya Prasad who will provide information regarding causes of hair loss and hair restoration options. You will see more materials about the hair transplant procedure and will be provided typical treatment and cost ranges.

Step 2

Dr. Prasad performs a thorough examination of your thinning areas to determine your actual hair loss classification. Based upon this examination, he will determine your options for a hair transplant and recommend a hair restoration treatment plan.

Step 3

During the hair transplant procedure Dr. Prasad will choose a suitable segment from your "donor" area (back and/or side of the head), and an appropriate variety of follicular units. Each graft will be placed individually, at the correct angle and direction consistent with natural hair growth. The average hair transplantation procedure takes 4-6 hours during which you may watch movies and have lunch.

Step 4

Once your hair transplant procedure is complete, you simply go home and rest for the evening. Most patients can resume normal activities immediately with the exception of strenuous exercise, which should be avoided for two weeks. You can wash your hair after 48 hours using a special method that we teach you.

Most patients return to work after 1-2 days. The tiny crusts visible on the scalp following surgery disappear completely in 7-10 days.
